Peter Britton is an example of the success of John’s alumni, with a long successful career as a history consultant and history education software producer. Having studied at John’s for his undergraduate degree in 1971-1974, and at the Graduate Society (now known as Ustinov College) in 1976-1977, he is now a visiting fellow at the College.

The West Indies have been known for being a terrifying force to play against. Historically, pitches in the region have been hard, bouncy, and pacey.
Fairtrade fortnight ran from the 21st February to the 7th March. With events including a formal, quiz and some delicious cocktails, not to mention five giveaways! A personal highlight was definitely the Ben & Jerry’s at the formal.
When I saw the email from St John’s about a free trip to the seaside, I leapt at the opportunity. Even the word, ‘seaside,’ felt incredibly English to me. It wasn’t a ‘beach day,’ as one might term a day at the Jersey shore, but a ‘day at the seaside.’ How perfectly marvellous.

Proclaiming itself as Durham’s newest Turkish restaurant, my expectations for ‘Turkish Kitchen: Meze and Grill’ were high despite its rather generic name. Seduced by the 4.8-star rating on Google, with reviews promising ‘authentic Turkish food’ and a ‘lovely Turkish atmosphere’, I was certainly hoping to be transported to Istanbul.
