We are delighted to share the news that John’s alumnus Georg Dalitz (Law Masters 2018-19) has made a significant donation to St John’s College Boat Club for professional coaching for both the men’s and women’s squads, and two annual coaching bursaries for SJCBC members who have shown a keen interest in coaching.
St John’s College student James Adams wasn’t in the vicinity of Durham Prison to witness the actual escape of John McVicar in October 1968. But he did witness its immediate aftermath as he was stopped twice by police in North and South Bailey as he made his way from his digs to morning breakfast at St John’s.
