Second Year PhD student Wanying Li tells of her success at the 61st Inter Varsity Dance Championships in Blackpool with dance partner, Olivia.
I am Wanying Li, a member of John’s MCR and a second-year PhD student. I’m writing to share the good news that I have won a national dance championship with you!
As part of the Durham University DanceSport Team, my dance partner Olivia (from St Aidan’s) and I participated in the 61st Inter Varsity Dance Championships on Saturday, 24th February, at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool. This is a UK national ballroom dancing competition for university dancers.
My partner and I participated in the Same-Sex category for Ballroom and Latin dances. We won the first place in Ballroom and are the national 6th in Latin! We also participated in the team match, and the Durham DanceSport team is the national 4th among all participated universities with the help of our coach Alysia!
I feel proud of the team and am delighted with my result.
