Vaibhav Mehta looks back on events held over the Christmas vacation for students who stayed in College.

This year, I had the privilege of organizing two unforgettable events—the Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve parties—in a bid to create a sense of warmth and community for those who remained on campus during the holidays.
The Christmas Eve party was a celebration like no other. The corridors of the MCR room were adorned with twinkling lights, transforming them into a winter wonderland. The event kicked off with a delightful mix of festive music and delightful snacks and beverages, creating an ambiance that resonated with the joyous spirit of the season. The joy and camaraderie shared during the Christmas Eve celebration truly encapsulated the spirit of giving and togetherness.

Once again, the Andy Corkhill room was immersed in a spectacle of lights, music, and laughter when the clock struck midnight on New Year’s Eve. The party included a lively dance floor, a photo booth capturing memorable moments, and a delectable spread of food and beverages.
The anticipation leading up to the countdown was electric, as the St John’s community joined together in unity, ready to embrace the possibilities of the coming year. The New Year’s resolutions shared during the event created an optimistic atmosphere, inspiring everyone to strive for personal growth and academic excellence in the upcoming term.
These MCR events were not just about festivities; they were a testament to the sense of community and togetherness that defines St John’s. As the organizer, witnessing the joy and warmth radiating from every corner of the college was a heartwarming experience. The collective break from academic responsibilities allowed everyone to recharge, fostering a renewed sense of enthusiasm as we entered the new year.
