John’s – A friendly home to STEM students and scientists!

Tasty pizza, fresh drinks, tricky questions, the most welcoming and friendliest College within the UK, and you’ve got the perfect ingredients for a Pub Quiz!

Following the industrially sponsored pub quiz in Michaelmas term; on Tuesday 22 February John’s very proudly hosted the Epiphany Term Pub Quiz for STEM students and members of staff- a great success with about 40 students and staff members attending it!

The event helped promote social interactions among postgraduate students, early career researchers and senior members of staff. Seven highly motivated groups challenged each other over questions ranging from classic Pub Quiz trivia (the smallest town in the UK), to history of science and geography. Participants got to know each other during the intervals after each round, and at the end of the Pub Quiz. They even discuss some potential collaborations!

The event was an invaluable opportunity to foster the relationships between John’s and the wider University, and to attract current and prospective STEM students. With this series of industrially sponsored pub quizzes, John’s has definitely become a friendly, comfy home for STEM folks!

As always, the event was brilliantly supported by Eve Cully and the Bar Team- huge thank you also to Harry Regan!

A huge thank you goes to Buki Dada, Customer Operations and Marketing Manager at THORLABS LTD. Thank you to the Physics Department for their generous support, in particular, Professors Nigel Glover and Ian Smail.
